What to do on Aug 15th?

August 15th is just a few days off. And I am wondering what to do? Do I, like majority of Indians take it as just another holiday and chill? Or attend flag hoisting and then continue with my daily chores? I do not feel like doing either..

I want to do something different. And what do I mean by different? Not too sure, yet. It may doing something to make a difference (to whom?). It may be the beginning of somethings I may want to do in future (but not sure about that, either). It may be a one time activity or something I may repeat again. But what to do? Not too sure...

What do I want to get out of it? It has to be a memorable experience. I should learn something new. If it makes a difference to somebodies life, so be it. Could it be charity (or some other form of social service)? Possible. Could it be bungee jumping (or some other forms of adventure sports)? Possible. Could it be spending time doing service in a temple? Possible.

If anyone who reads this note, and has specific suggestions / thoughts -- please post or email. If you do not have a thought and/or  you think some of your close friends may (also) have one, please forward them the post. I may get something I am subconsciously looking for... I am not sure if anyone has time to read / comment on such topics. But why not give a try... :-)

Thanks for thinking for me. I will post what I finally do, after I do. :-)

Cheers,
Krishna.

The fact that you don't know what to do means you don't have to do something.

The fact that you want to do something but don't know what means that you have to do something.

Hope the two are contradictory in action alone.

In summary, the suggestion is to do something without rhyme, reason or rationality and build it over time.

I'm sure it will turn out memorable though I'm against helping you to make it a memorable one. The only intent is to do something and build it so that you don't get to this state again.

Here are some things that come in random order.

1. Plant a sapling and help it grow till it is sufficient (as a tree)
2. Donate some money to someone or some organization that you believe in.
3. Donate blood to an organization that doesn't charge the same to an individual/hospital who requires the same.
4. Visit a temple and pray for the family's well being
5. Visit someone whom you have never met for over 5 years.

Or go fly a kite...

You dont really have to *do* something. its a holiday. Relax. And enjoy some time with your family.

Krishna what comes to my mind first is how you had introduced Indian Vegetarian cooking in the coop when at UCLA. Only _you_ could do it. You have a stubborn nature and only "mad" men like you can bring about change in society because they believe that something can be done and dont wait for others. And a good natured "mad" man like you can definitely bring about a good change once you make up your mind. Coming to your thoughts on Aug15-> I want you to brain storm on how to get rid of corruption in our country.
